Grassfed beef can make your simple recipe special and full of natural goodness that your family will enjoy. What are the nutrients your family can gain by choosing grassfed beef?

Protein: Protein provides the body long-lasting energy by maintaining cellular functions. It is a vital component of our diet since our body is 75% constituted of protein. Our hair, skin, nails, bones, and muscles are primarily protein, and without appropriate intake to supply our need, we can be prone to sickness. In an ounce of grassfed beef, there are about 7 grams of protein. In a serving of 3-ounces, you can have 51% of your daily recommended value.

Iron: Beef is also a good source of iron. It is a mineral that helps bring oxygen in our cells. People who have small iron stores experiences IDA or Iron Deficiency Anemia which commonly causes fatigue, stress, and headaches.

Vitamins: According to studies, grass fed meats have higher levels of vitamins and minerals because of the natural feed of grass. Grassfed beef is rich in B vitamins including Vitamin B12, folate, thiamine, riboflavin, and Vitamins E, K, and D. All these nutrients are important in body functions especially in releasing energy and maintaining good health.

Minerals: Aside from iron, minerals present in beef are necessary to ensure over-all well-being. Grass fed beef have rich content of potassium, calcium, zinc, selenium, and magnesium.

Many people are afraid to eat beef because of the fat. However, it is not a major concern with grass fed meats. Grassfed beef like pastured pork is naturally lean and with less calories from fats.

Conjugated Linoleic Acid or better known as CLA is one of the vital fats human should not miss in their diet. It is found in ruminant animals such as goat, beef, and lamb, but with higher percentage if the animals are grown grass fed—a reason why grass fed organic beef is twice plentiful with CLA as compared to grain-fed or conventionally raised animals.

In a joint research effort conducted by the United States Department of Agriculture and Clemson University in 2009, they have found out that there are 10 key areas why grass fed organic beef is better for human health as compared to grain fed.

  1. Low in Fat Content
  2. Higher Levels of Omega-3
  3. Higher in Vitamin E or Alpha-tocopherol
  4. Higher in Vitamin A and B Vitamins
  5. Richer in Beta-Carotene, a nutrient known to be an immunity booster
  6. With Plenty of Calcium, Magnesium, and Potassium
  7. Higher in CLA
  8. Lower in Saturated Fats
  9. Higher in vaccenic acid, an Omega-7 fatty acid found in ruminant animals like grass fed organic beef.
  10. Higher Omega-6 which is good for the heart and brain.

If you are on a weight-loss plan, eating red meat from a grass fed organic beef would help you lose weight in the healthiest way you can imagine. Conjugated Linoleic Acid from grass fed beef allows you to increase lean muscle mass (also beneficial in body building) while decreasing body fats caused by excessive intake of calorie rich foods.

Unlike commercial fat burners that brings adverse effects by abnormally increasing metabolism while speeding up your heart rate to make the body run hotter and burn fats, CLA simply allows the body to convert the stored fat into energy and interferes with a substance called “lipoprotein lipase” that helps the body store fat. With right intake of grass fed organic beef rich in CLA, you can enjoy a slimmer waistline and firmer muscles.

Without grass fed organic beef in our diet, we are missing an amazing essential fat that is extremely necessary in guarding our health. Since humans do not eat grass and not a ruminant, our bodies cannot produce CLA, and this is a reason why we need to eat meat from grass fed animals.

If you are a meat buyer and you find out that the meat you are purchasing in laden with ammonia and was scraped from the bones of the beef mixed with trimmings from the spine, rectum, and intestines, would you dare to buy it?

The term “pink slime” is causing a national motion, and many people are calling to stop the production of this meat product which according to scientists are putting the health of consumers into peril. Recently, schools from different parts of the country are strictly banning meals filled with “lean finely textured ground beef” in their respective canteens. Not only that, but the beef business is also being boycotted, causing the demand of ground beef to fall off the chart.

Pink Slime” is the term used for the food additive which is consisted of low quality beef trimmings that is treated with ammonia to kill E.Coli and other pathogens that can be dangerous to health. The product is not sold to consumers directly, but are filled in ground beef to serve as meat stretcher—the goal is lessen the cost of ground beef sold to millions of meat consumer across United States.

Though 70% of the ground beef in supermarkets (as reported by ABC News) are mixed with “pink slime,” the meat packages are not labeled to have the content of this substance. Thus, more people who eats ground beef meals without being aware that they are consuming a product which once is just fed for the dogs. Gerald Zirnstein, a former U.S. Department of Agriculture microbiologist stated that “pink slime” is a cheap substitute. It is indeed. Not because it can be bought in a lesser price, but for the reason that it takes the people away from their right to buy food coming from an honest source. Consumers are buying ground beef, so they must be sold ground beef that is pure not trimmings from other parts at all.

Food chains such as McDonald's, Taco Bell, and Burger King, stopped the usage of ground beef with fillers in their burger when the media attentively followed the issue. More people are now becoming particular of the kind of meat they purchase, and ground beef is taken a keen eye among the list of beef products.

Pink Slimeis not an issue to be worried about by consumers who choose to purchase ground beef from grass fed beef and other organic meals. Food which are naturally grown are absolutely good for the health of man. With the industrialized world humanity is living in, food is not an exemption in questionable maneuverings—a reason why nothing beats organic when it comes to your health.
